Ukraine recently received and deployed a batch of missiles for Patriot air defense systems, which were utilized to repel a Russian assault on Kyiv on the night of June 15. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this during a conversation with media representatives on the territory of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, which was damaged by the adversary, as reported by UNN.

According to the head of state, the consignment of Patriot missiles arrived in Ukraine recently, but public disclosure was only possible after their utilization.

“We had a batch of Patriot missiles, which were recently delivered to Ukraine. Now, after we have used the missiles, it is possible to speak about it. It was sufficient to intercept ballistic targets, but not all drones were shot down,” Zelenskyy stated.

The President emphasized that the Patriot missiles enabled the interception of ballistic targets during Russian attacks.

Specifically, with their assistance, air defense systems managed to destroy 50 out of the 70 missiles with which Russia struck Ukraine.

On the night of Monday, June 15, Kyiv experienced a large-scale combined attack by the enemy.

Destruction was recorded in all 10 districts of the capital. At least 18 multi-story buildings, a church on the grounds of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, a business center, a film studio building, administrative facilities, private homes, a market, and vehicles were damaged.

Currently, five Kyiv residents are reported dead, and over 20 have been injured.

Russia attacked Ukraine with 70 missiles and 611 drones. Air defense shot down 50 missiles, including 5 “Zircons,” and 582 drones during the night attack. Hits from 20 ballistic missiles and 27 UAVs were also recorded at 42 locations.
