Міненерго повідомляє про відключення електроенергії у семи українських областях та столиці через потужний обстріл з боку Росії.

Following a large-scale Russian shelling of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, as of the morning of June 2nd, a portion of consumers in Kyiv, Kyiv Oblast, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, Donetsk Oblast, Zaporizhzhia Oblast, Sumy Oblast, Kharkiv Oblast, and Cherkasy Oblast remain temporarily without electricity. However, the implementation of power outage schedules for residential consumers and industries is not anticipated.

This was reported by the press services of the Ministry of Energy and Ukrenergo.

The ministry stated that, in particular, in the capital, the Russian shelling damaged the production site and infrastructure of an energy enterprise. Two energy workers were injured, they were taken to the hospital and are receiving all necessary assistance.

Additionally, the Russian army attacked facilities in the oil and gas sector, resulting in infrastructure damage. No workers were harmed. Rescuers and operational services are working to eliminate the consequences of the attack.

Electricity Consumption in Ukraine

According to Ukrenergo, electricity consumption has increased. Today, June 2nd, as of 9:30 AM, it was 8.2% higher than at the same time the previous day – Monday. The reason for the change is cloudy weather and rain in some western and southwestern regions of Ukraine. This leads to low efficiency of household solar power plants and a corresponding increase in energy consumption from the main grid.

Yesterday, June 1st, the daily consumption maximum was recorded in the evening. It was 1.6% higher than the maximum of the previous working day – Friday, May 29th. The reason is the traditional increase in energy consumption at the beginning of the week. The company noted that it is advisable to shift active energy consumption today to the period of most efficient operation of industrial solar power plants – from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. They also asked Ukrainians not to turn on multiple high-power electrical appliances simultaneously during evening hours – from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

In addition, Ukrenergo emphasized that the situation in the energy system may change and advised monitoring the announcements on the websites and official social media pages of each regional energy company separately.
