“Історія іграшок 5” заробила 160 мільйонів доларів, встановивши річний рекорд

Pixar’s animated feature garnered $160 million in the US and Canada during its opening weekend. The film surpassed “Super Mario” and achieved the highest debut in the franchise’s history.

"Toy Story 5" collected $160 million and set a record for the year

“Toy Story 5,” an animated production from Pixar, marked the most successful debut of 2026 in North American cinemas, earning $160 million over its first weekend. This information is reported by Bloomberg, as noted by UNN.

Details

The movie outperformed the year’s previous record-holder, “Super Mario,” which was released in April. Concurrently, this represents the strongest opening weekend in the entire “Toy Story” franchise, which originated back in 1995.

Furthermore, the film achieved the second-best opening performance in Pixar’s history, trailing only behind “Incredibles 2,” released in 2018.

Film’s Success Strengthens Pixar’s Position

According to Bloomberg, “Toy Story 5” received favorable reviews from critics and launched just before a long holiday weekend in the United States. The participation of Taylor Swift, whose song is featured on the film’s soundtrack, also drew additional attention to the movie.

The film’s triumph continues Pixar’s resurgence following a challenging few years. Earlier, “Inside Out 2” represented a significant achievement for the studio, grossing $1.7 billion worldwide in 2024.

Analysts anticipate that, alongside upcoming releases like “Spider-Man: New Day” and Christopher Nolan’s “Odyssey,” the summer movie season in North American theaters could generate between $4.1 billion and $4.3 billion in box office revenue.
